VRE Outbreak declared over on the 3B Medical/Surgical Unit
(Simcoe, ON) – Norfolk General Hospital (NGH) has officially declared the Vancomycin-Resistant Enterococcus (VRE) outbreak on the 3B Medical/Surgical Unit over.
The outbreak was declared over after 14 days of enhanced monitoring confirmed no new cases and no further spread of VRE on the unit.
We extend our sincere thanks to our dedicated staff for their commitment to infection prevention and control measures. Their efforts have been key in safely resolving the outbreak, which was first declared in November.
To help keep everyone safe, visitors are strongly encouraged to wear a mask at all times while visiting patients.
