Day Surgery

The Unit 

The Surgical Day Care Unit (SDC) is open weekday from 7am to 4pm, or later if required and is located on the second floor.

What to Expect 

When you arrive for your procedure, you will be required to provide your health card and any forms their doctor has given you when you arrive the day of your surgery. SDC staff work closely with you to ensure you are well prepared. After the procedure, you will be returned to SDC to be monitored, assessed and prepared for discharge. The expectation is that you will return home the same day as your surgery, with discharge instructions and any required prescriptions.

You will require a ride home. Your ride may wait but if they prefer to leave, we will provide you access to a phone to call when you are ready to go home. You must also have someone accompany you home and stay the night.
