Parking at Norfolk General Hospital

We want your visit to be as easy as possible. Below is important information about parking, payment options, accessible spaces, and monthly passes before you arrive.

Parking Locations and Fees

Where to park

Visitor parking is available in:

• The Robinson Street parking lot
• The West Street parking lot near the Emergency Department and Patient Registration

Parking fee

Parking is $8 per exit. (As of June 1, 2026)

Parking fees help support patient care by funding hospital equipment and services.

Accessible Parking and Drop-Off

Accessible parking

Accessible parking spaces are available near the main entrance and the Emergency Department parking lot.

These spaces are reserved for vehicles displaying a valid Accessible Parking Permit.

Drop-off area

A short-term drop-off and pick-up area is located at the main  and at the West Street entrance.

You may stop here to help someone into the hospital. Please move your vehicle once they are safely inside.

If you need assistance getting someone to or from your vehicle, please speak with a staff member or visit Patient Registration.

How to Pay

You can pay for parking in several ways:

• At the exit terminal using debit or credit card
  No ticket is required.
• At the Finance Department during business hours using cash or card
  A parking ticket will be provided.
• At Patient Registration when Finance is closed using cash or card
  A parking ticket will be provided.

If you pay at Finance or Patient Registration, you will receive a ticket to scan at the exit terminal when leaving.

How Parking Works

1. When you enter the parking lot, the gate will open automatically. No ticket is provided at entry.
2. When leaving, pay using one of the payment options above.
   • If you pay at Finance or Patient Registration, you will receive a ticket to scan at the exit gate.
   • If you pay at the exit terminal, no ticket is needed.
3. Once payment is complete, the gate will open automatically.

Monthly Parking Pass

If you visit the hospital often, a monthly parking pass may be a convenient option.

• Monthly parking pass: $54
• Valid only for the calendar month purchased
• Unlimited parking during that month

Monthly parking passes can be purchased through the Finance Department on Level 1.
