Pharmacy
The Hospital Inpatient Pharmacy is responsible for a safe and effective medication management system, including purchasing, preparation, distribution, and storage.
Pharmacists are medication experts who ensure the medications prescribed are safe and appropriate for our patients based on individual needs. They not only verify medication orders, but also work collaboratively with the care team to select, monitor, and adjust drug therapies.
Pharmacy technicians play a crucial role in maintaining medication inventory and supplying the right medications to the care team for administration. They not only fill and check prescriptions, but also prepare medications in unit dose format.
As an integral part of the care team, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians are involved in both direct patient care and hospital committees or programs. Examples include obtaining best possible medication histories (BPMH), Antimicrobial Stewardship Program (ASP), and Professional Practice Committee (PPC).
