Traffic and construction notice for West Street in Simcoe

(Monday, May 15, 2023) – With the rise in temperatures comes the start of summer construction.

On Monday, May 15, 2023, construction crews will begin the process of undergoing a major West Street Reconstruction project; from Holden Avenue to Brook Street in Simcoe.

Construction is expected to last until November 2023.

Norfolk County has assured Norfolk General Hospital (NGH) that the public, EMS, and ambulance crews will continue to have quick access to the Emergency Department during construction.

Access to West Street will remain open, but intermittent traffic delays may occur due to construction. Please follow all traffic signage and construction personnel directives.

At this present time, vehicles and ambulance crews exiting the West Street parking lot entrance will continue to have the option of turning left or right onto West Street.

Please keep this increased construction activity in mind when planning travel to and from the hospital.

Why this work is being done:

Norfolk County has declared the West Street Reconstruction project as essential.

The road, curbs, sewer, water mains, sidewalks, and streetlights on West Street require repairs to ensure the grounds are safe to navigate.
