Respiratory outbreak over on 4B Unit at Norfolk General Hospital

(Simcoe, ON) — Norfolk General Hospital (NGH), in consultation with Grand Erie Public Health, has declared the respiratory outbreak on the 4B Complex Continuing Care Unit over.

The outbreak began on March 9, 2026. A total of five cases were identified.

The 4B Unit has reopened to visitors in line with the hospital’s current visitation policy.

NGH thanks the staff on 4B and teams across the hospital for their hard work and teamwork. Their efforts helped stop the spread of illness while ensuring patients continued to receive safe care.

The hospital also thanks patients and families for their patience and cooperation.

Masking reminder

We want to remind everyone that wearing a mask is highly recommended in certain areas of the hospital, including inpatient units and the Emergency Department. Masks are available at all public entrances.

If you are feeling sick, please avoid visiting a loved one in the hospital. Staying home when unwell helps protect patients, staff, and families.
