Simcoe, ON – Norfolk General Hospital (NGH) is excited to announce the opening of two new outpatient clinics to improve access to specialized care and reduce wait times for patients. The Joint Injection Clinic and the Colposcopy Clinic highlight NGH’s commitment to providing better care and meeting community needs.

Joint Injection Clinic

The Joint Injection Clinic, which opened on December 13, 2024, provides care for patients with joint pain and injuries. Dr. Femi Ayeni and a team from McMaster University offer assessments, imaging, and targeted joint injections for pain relief.

Key Details:

  • Service hours: Two Fridays per month (subject to physician availability).
  • Location: Main Level, near the Robinson Street entrance.
  • Referral process: Referrals are made through the McMaster Orthopedic Clinic, with priority for local residents. A streamlined referral process is in development.

“We hope this clinic makes a big difference for patients managing arthritis and other joint conditions,” said Dr. Naveen Parasu, Chief of Radiology at NGH. “Living with pain is exhausting, and it impacts daily life. By providing quick access to diagnosis and treatment, we can help patients get back to their routines faster.”

Colposcopy Clinic

The newly established Colposcopy Clinic offers vital follow-up care for patients referred by their family physicians after abnormal Pap test results. Led by our skilled gynecologist, Dr. Rupanjali Kundu, the clinic provides detailed examinations using a colposcope, a specialized microscope that identifies and addresses potential cervical cell changes. If needed, biopsies can be performed during the same visit.

Key Details:

  • Service Hours: Mondays, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Location: Surgical Daycare Area, 2nd Floor (patients register on the 1st floor).
  • Referral Process: Patients need a referral from a family physician or Nurse Practitioner.

This clinic offers shorter wait times and timely follow-up care for patients.

These new clinics reinforce NGH’s dedication to improving healthcare access. By offering specialized care close to home, NGH helps patients receive timely treatment without long-distance travel.

“These new clinics represent a positive step forward for our community,” said Kim Mullins, Vice-President Clinical and Chief Nursing Executive at NGH. “We are proud to enhance our services, providing high-quality, patient-centered care that makes a meaningful difference in people’s lives.”
