NGH to receive over $2.6M in infrastructure funding

(Simcoe) – Norfolk General Hospital (NGH) will receive $2,630,205 from the Ontario government to complete important infrastructure repairs and upgrades that will help patients continue to receive safe, reliable care close to home.

The one-time funding is being provided through the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund for the 2026 to 2027 funding year.

The Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund helps Ontario hospitals repair, replace and modernize aging buildings and essential operating systems. This can include structural, mechanical, electrical and safety improvements needed to keep hospitals operating safely and reliably.

At NGH, the funding will support a range of priority infrastructure projects identified through the hospital’s ongoing facility planning. This will include repairs and upgrades to building systems, and other areas that support patient care and daily hospital operations.

The funding will also support exterior upgrades to part of the hospital. Crews will add waterproofing, insulation and new metal cladding over the existing brick. This work will help address leaks, improve heating and cooling, and give this part of the hospital an updated exterior. The work will help keep essential hospital systems dependable and ensure care teams have the facilities they need to care for patients every day.

Patients and families may not always see this infrastructure work, but they depend on it each time they visit the hospital. Reliable building systems help prevent disruptions and allow care teams to focus on their patients.

The funding is part of the Ontario government’s broader investment of more than $266 million through the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund to support hospitals across the province.
