Join Iris Smith’s Luau for a Purpose – Help fund a new mammogram machine for Norfolk General Hospital

(Norfolk County) – The Norfolk General Hospital Foundation is excited to announce an event that goes beyond fundraising – it offers hope to countless women in our community. With your help, we want to purchase a new, cutting-edge mammogram machine for Norfolk General Hospital (NGH) – because the women you care about deserve the very best in cancer-detecting technology.

The Luau for a Purpose, hosted by long time NGH Volunteer and Norfolk resident Iris Smith, aims to do just that. On August 17, 2024, David’s Restaurant in Port Dover will be transformed into a lively Hawaiian paradise for the Luau for a Purpose – promising a fun-filled afternoon with music, island-inspired food, entertainment, and exciting games with exclusive prizes. By attending this event, every ticket sold will directly support the NGH Foundation, enhancing patient care and providing essential medical equipment.

“Our community’s health is our top priority, and the Luau is a fantastic opportunity to come together and make a real difference for the woman of our community,” said Iris Smith. “I invite everyone to join us for an unforgettable afternoon filled with Hawaiian flair, all in support of our Norfolk General Hospital.”

Our goal is to raise funds to acquire a state-of-the-art mammogram machine for NGH. Early detection through mammography significantly increases the chances of successful breast cancer treatment. Our current equipment is aging, so we need to upgrade to 3D imaging technology. This new technology is less invasive and provides more accurate results.

“Events like the Luau play a crucial role in advancing healthcare capabilities at Norfolk General Hospital,” stated Emma Rogers, CEO of NGH Foundation. Your participation of this wonderful event directly contributes to improving healthcare outcomes for our neighbors and loved ones.”

Last year, NGH conducted nearly 3,300 mammogram scans, underscoring the importance of regular screenings. With breast cancer affecting 1 in 8 Canadian women in their lifetime, timely detection through routine screenings is essential.

Don’t miss this opportunity to make a difference for your community hospital. Tickets for the Iris Luau are available now and can be purchased online at: https://Luau-for-a-purpose.eventbrite.com

Let’s work together to improve care and bring the best breast cancer screening technology to Norfolk County.
