Influenza A Outbreak Declared on 3E

Date issued: Wednesday, September 4, 2024

(Simcoe) – Norfolk General Hospital has declared an Influenza A outbreak on the 3E Medical Unit. The outbreak was confirmed on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, with two patients affected.

The 3E unit remains open to new patients and visitors. However, to reduce the spread of the virus, we ask that only essential care providers visit at this time.

If you need to visit, please wear a mask and avoid coming if you are feeling unwell or have symptoms like a cough, fever, runny nose, sore throat, diarrhea, vomiting, or a new rash.

For everyone’s safety, we also recommend wearing a mask in public if you have any symptoms and consulting your doctor to make sure your vaccinations are up to date.

Norfolk General Hospital is dedicated to safeguarding the health and safety of everyone in our facility. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this time.
