Take Two Minutes. Help Save a Life

Every three days in Ontario, someone dies waiting for a life-saving organ transplant. Yet only about 35 per cent of people in Ontario are registered organ and tissue donors.

At Norfolk General Hospital, the Norfolk Hospital Nursing Home, and Holmes House, we recognize the important role organ and tissue donation plays in saving and improving lives.

Since partnering with the Trillium Gift of Life Network in 2014:

  • Norfolk General Hospital has supported three organ donors, helping save seven lives
  • The hospital has also supported 107 tissue donors
  • In the past year alone, one organ donor saved a life, while nine tissue donors helped others

One organ donor can save up to eight lives and help up to 75 more through tissue donation.

Registering as an organ and tissue donor takes just two minutes, but it could make a life-changing difference for someone in need.

Right now, about 4.7 million people in Ontario are registered donors. In Brant and Norfolk, just under 50 per cent of people have signed up.
