Norfolk General Hospital welcomes new Board Chair, Peter Krause
Long-time board member brings four decades of leadership experience in healthcare, education, and community service
Simcoe, ON — Norfolk General Hospital (NGH) is pleased to announce that Peter Krause has been elected Chair of the NGH Board of Directors for a two-year term, effective immediately.
Peter brings more than 40 years of leadership experience across the public, private, and non-profit sectors, with a strong focus on governance, strategic planning, and community engagement. He has served on the NGH Board since 2018 and is also a member of the Boards of the Norfolk Hospital Nursing Home and the St. Williams Conservation Reserve.
Peter has a deep background in public service, healthcare, and education. His leadership has supported accountability, sustainable planning, and strong community partnerships.
“It’s a privilege to support an organization that plays such a vital role in the health and wellbeing of our community,” said Peter. “NGH is entering an exciting chapter, and I look forward to working with my fellow board members to continue building a strong and responsive healthcare system for Norfolk County.”
In addition to his work in healthcare governance, Peter is committed to education and lifelong learning. He taught business, communications, and applied mathematics at Conestoga College and volunteers as a tutor and board member with the Haldimand-Norfolk Literacy Council. He previously served as Chair of both Conservation Ontario and the Grand River Conservation Authority, and as Interim CEO of the International RiverFoundation in Australia, where he led a major restructuring and helped strengthen global environmental partnerships.
In the private sector, Peter is President of Krause Corporate Solutions, a consulting firm specializing in pensions, benefits, and organizational strategy. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto, with additional studies in business and economics from Wilfrid Laurier University.
Peter succeeds Stephanie Pongracz-Clarysse, who served as Board Chair from 2022 to 2024 and has been a dedicated member of the NGH Board since 2017.
“I wish to extend my heartfelt thanks to Stephanie for her years of outstanding leadership,” said Todd Stepanuik, NGH President and CEO. “Her thoughtful guidance and deep commitment to quality care have been instrumental in helping NGH move forward. While her term as Chair has concluded, I’m grateful she will continue to serve as a valued member of the Board in the role of Immediate Past Chair. I am excited to welcome Peter to his new role. His experience, strategic insight, and values make him exceptionally well suited to lead the Board at this important time. I look forward to working closely with him as we continue to advance our mission.”
NGH extends its sincere thanks to Stephanie for her service and many contributions to the Board of Directors
NGH also welcomes several new trustees who joined the Board at its Annual Meeting. We are grateful for their commitment to strengthening local health care and look forward to the insights and leadership they will bring to the organization.
