Update: Emergency Department at Norfolk General Hospital to reopen Monday

(Monday, October 31, 2022) – Norfolk General Hospital’s Emergency Department (ED) will reopen on Monday, October 31, at 7:00 p.m. after unexpectedly reducing its hours as a result of a staffing shortage due to illnesses related to COVID-19.

The ED temporarily reduced its hours on Sunday, October 30, at roughly 7:30 p.m. The emergency department will resume its regular hours of 24 hours a day, seven days a week, on Monday, October 31, at 7:00 p.m.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this unexpected event. NGH would also like to thank those who responded quickly to ensure that the ED could resume regular operations on Monday.
