Norfolk General Hospital declares COVID-19 outbreak on the 3B Unit

(November 3, 2022) – Norfolk General Hospital (NGH), in consultation with the Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit, have declared an outbreak of COVID-19 on our 3B Medical/Surgical Unit.  As a result, visitors are no longer permitted to enter the 3B unit, except for Essential Care Providers (ECPs) in consultation with the patient’s care team.

To ensure patients have the support they need, patients will be allowed two designated ECPs; however, only one ECP will be allowed at a time.

We understand it is difficult for families and friends to be separated from their loved ones during this period. We encourage people to use technology to connect with our patients.

NGH is in the process of completing the necessary contact tracing and testing. Affected patients, essential care partners, and staff are being notified by NGH.

Please limit the transition of any illnesses (colds, influenza COVID, or other illnesses)

A reminder to our community to help stop the spread of any infectious diseases during cold and flu season. Please wash your hands well and often and consider staying home or wearing a mask if you’re feeling unwell.

Please be respectful to our frontline teams when discussing visitor restrictions.
