COVID-19 outbreak declared over at Norfolk General Hospital’s 4B Unit

(NGH) Friday, April 29, 2022 – The COVID-19 outbreak at Norfolk General Hospital’s (NGH) 4B Complex Continuing Care Unit is officially over.

An outbreak on the 4B Unit was declared on April, 8, 2022 after five patients tested positive for COVID-19. Surveillance testing was completed on all patients and staff. In total, 13 patients tested positive for the virus during the outbreak.

All appropriate actions were taken to ensure the safety of our patients, staff, and physicians. We thank our staff whose expertise and teamwork brought this outbreak to a close.

Please note: Visitor Restrictions and active screening remain in place. Exceptions are in place for Essential Care Providers (ECPs) of eligible patients.

We want to acknowledge the hard work of the staff at the 4B Unit and of all our NGH employees who stepped up to stop the spread of COVID-19 while continuing to provide necessary care. And thank you to our patients and their families for your patience and cooperation through this time.

This situation has proved that our continued success depends on supporting each other as we work through the pandemic together.
