COVID-19 outbreak declared over at Norfolk General Hospital’s 3E Medical Unit

(Monday, August 22, 2022) – The COVID-19 outbreak at Norfolk General Hospital’s (NGH) 3E Medical Unit is officially over.

An outbreak at the Medical Unit was declared on August 2, 2022, after five patients tested positive for COVID-19. All inpatients and staff were immediately tested, and all visitors were restricted.

Thank you to our dedicated team for working tirelessly to resolve this outbreak. We would also like to extend our appreciation to the patients and families for their support and cooperation during this challenging time.

Please note: Visitor Restrictions remain in place. Exceptions are in place for Essential Care Providers (ECPs) of eligible patients. Please be respectful to our frontline teams when discussing visitor restrictions.

Currently, there are no COVID-19 outbreaks at NGH. The COVID-19 outbreak at the 3B Medical/Surgical Unit was officially declared over on Wednesday, August 17, 2022.
