COVID-19 Outbreak declared over at Norfolk General Hospital’s 3E Medical Unit

(NGH) – The COVID-19 outbreak at Norfolk General Hospital’s 3E Medical Unit is officially over today.

An outbreak on the 3E Medical Unit was declared on Thursday, November 23, 2023 after two patients tested positive for COVID-19. There have been no new positive cases and there are no new symptomatic patients or employees.

All appropriate actions were taken to ensure the safety of our residents, and staff.  We thank our staff whose expertise and teamwork brought this outbreak to a close.

“I want to acknowledge the hard work of all the NGH staff who worked diligently to stop the spread of COVID-19, and to maintain hospital services that are provided to our community,” said Jennifer Edwards, Director of Quality, Clinic Practice and Infection Prevention and Control. “And thank you to our patients and their families for your patience and cooperation through this time.”
