Construction and parking update for Thursday, March 9

On Thursday, March 9, 2023, a crane operator will be on site affecting parking along the West Street laneway and in front of the Emergency Department entrance at Norfolk General Hospital (NGH).

The West Street laneway (West side) from the stop sign to the West Street public entrance will be closed to vehicles and foot traffic. Parking in front of the emergency department entrance will also be closed.

The West Street laneway must be blocked off to allow the crane operator to lift a condenser and supplies onto the roof of the hospital and to ensure everyone’s safety.

Signage will be installed on-site to help direct patients, visitors, and staff. We are asking everyone to follow posted signage and obey all directions from any construction personnel while on site.

EMS and ambulance crews will continue to have quick access to the hospital. The Emergency Department entrance will remain open for patient drop-off only.

The crane will be on-site from 6:00 a.m. until noon.

During this time, all patients, and visitors can use the West Street parking lot or the Robinson Street parking lot.

Thank you for your understanding and patience during this time.
