Administrative Services
2nd Floor Information Desk
To welcome the visitors and patients of NGH to the 2nd Floor with a smile and give directions and/or escort them to Intensive Care, Pre OP, Day Surgery or the Stress Clinics. Staffed weekdays with two shift times available.
Main Information Desk
To welcome people to NGH/NHNH with a smile and provide patients and visitors entering with accurate directions and information. Staffed daily with several shift times available.
Office Helper
To assist in the volunteer or other offices with various assignments as directed. Computer skills may be required. Times: vary
Financial Services
Coffee Kiosk
To assist with the running of the Volunteer's Coffee Kiosk by selling coffee and various other items to patients, residents, staff and visitors. Also responsible for restocking product and cleaning Kiosk area. Open daily with several shift times available.
Craft Group
For crafty people to display their talents at Treasure Mart and various sales throughout the year. Optional meetings held on the 3rd Wednesday morning of each month.
Gift Cart
To allow non-mobile patients and residents the opportunity to purchase items from the Gift Shop by taking selected items to their location.
Gift Shop
To assist with the running of the Volunteer's Gift Shop by selling various items to patients, residents, staff and visitors. Open daily with several shifts available.
Hairdressing
To help the Hairdresser with clients and to provide wheelchair transportation of patients and residents to and from the salon.
H.E.L.P.P. Lottery
Selling break open lottery tickets within the hospital. One shift available on days of service.
Patient Services
3B or 3E Helper
Under the direction of the charge nurse, you will assist staff in the area with various tasks including interactive activities with patients. Times vary.
4B Helper
Under the direction of the Activation Coordinator/ charge nurse you may assist with one-on-one activities, feeding or participate in various group activities (walking, reading, bingo, outings). Times vary.
Emergency Dept. Liaison
To provide support and direction for the patients, families and their friends during their stay in Emergency and support staff in the area by enhancing communication within the department. Staffed daily with several shift times available.
Emergency Helper
Under the direction of the charge nurse you will assist staff in the area with various tasks. Times vary.
Escort (Internal)
To transport patients in a wheelchair who are being admitted or discharged from the hospital. Also required to deliver goods that come into the hospital for patients and residents. Staffed weekdays with two shift times available.
Nursing Home Helper
Under the direction of the Activation Coordinator/ charge nurse you may assist with one-on-one activities, feeding or participate in various group activities (walking, reading, bingo, outings). Times vary.
Palliative Care
As members of the multi-disciplinary team, the Volunteer will collaborate to provide emotional and practical support to the patient and their family members. Specific training provided. Times vary.
Physiotherapy Helper
Transporting in-patients to and from the physio room for treatment and assist with exercise program. Times: 9:00 – noon Monday to Friday.
Surgical Day Care Helper
Provide refreshments and comfort to patients recovering from day surgery and assist staff with various tasks as required. Staffed weekday mornings.
Other Services
Garden Helper
Help maintain and improve the beauty of the landscaping of NGH and NHNH by cleaning flowerbeds, pruning shrubs and organic weeding. Seasonal.
Grade One Tours
To conduct tours of the hospital for Grade One students from Norfolk. Annually in May.
Special Events
From time to time special events may be organized in which the volunteers participate, i.e. open house, radio-a-thon, parades, etc.
Fundraising
50/50 Draw (18 and over)
Port Dover Branch annual event. Assist with ticket sales.
Annual Draw Tickets (18 and over)
An Association fundraiser for all Branches. Assist with ticket sales at various events in the area or on their own.
Fashion Show
Port Dover Branch annual event. Assist with organization and participate in modeling fashions – great fun- usually in May
Flower Plant Sale
An annual Association fundraiser. Help sell potted plants to the public two days in August.
Gift Wrapping
Simcoe Branch annual event. Wrap Christmas gifts during the month of December – several shifts available.
Golf Tournament
Delhi Branch annual fundraiser in July. Many interesting jobs available – golfing too!
Pastry Sale
A Waterford Branch fundraiser. Bake pies or tarts which are sold at a one day event.
Tag Days
Each Branch organizes this yearly event to raise funds by offering tags for donations at various designated locations.
Treasure Mart
An annual Association fundraiser held in October. Large variety of jobs to do. Something for everyone and lots of fun!
Yard Sale
Bring donations, help with set-up, sales and clean up. Great fun and you get to shop too. Spring and Fall.
