Complex Care

Complex Care Unit

The Complex Care Unit is located on the fourth floor a NGH for patients with medically complex conditions that require unique programming which cannot be managed in Long Term Care facilities. It is an 18 bed unit comprised of 9 restorative beds, 3 palliative care beds and 6 medically complex beds.   This unit is staffed with registered nurses and registered practical nurses, along with other multidisciplinary professionals (i.e. speech pathologist, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, recreational therapist) who collaborate with patients and their families to provide quality care that is patient focused.

Slow Stream Rehabilitation

The Slow Stream Rehabilitation Program at NGH provides services for patients demonstrating rehabilitation potential with a goal of improving their functional abilities and to assist in their discharge home.

The idea of the Slow Stream Rehabilitation Program is that a patient can improve to the point where they can return home and have improved functionality. We hope to have a patient become as independent as possible and achieve their full potential. This program will give our patients that chance.
