NGH Foundation excited to introduce Julie Powell

Simcoe, ON – After conducting an extensive search the Board of Directors of the Norfolk General Hospital Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Julie Powell as Director of Development beginning May 22, 2012.

“I’m just so very excited and really looking forward to this opportunity to work in the community that I was born and raised in. I know the importance of this hospital for Norfolk County and area,” said Powell. As Director of Development, Julie will be responsible for the fundraising arm of the Norfolk General Hospital and will work closely with the Foundation Board and community stakeholders in achieving fundraising goals.

“Our search committee was very impressed with Julie’s wealth of fundraising experience and knowledge of our catchment area,” said Kelly Isfan, president and CEO, NGH. “We are delighted that she chose to join us and look forward to her arrival.”

Powell brings to the NGH Foundation more than 15 years of fundraising experience in non-profit management, most recently with Heart and Stroke. “I find it exciting to set fundraising goals, strive towards them and obviously excited when you reach that goal and exceed it,” said Powell, who also enjoys working with dedicated volunteers and donors. “I hope to make many of the same connections in Norfolk County.”

Having lived in the area for nearly 30 years, Julie is very familiar with NGH and community. “I think a big part of fundraising is building relationships with your community. This will be a big focus for me. I certainly have many existing relationships, and I look forward to developing new ones.”

On May 30th Julie will be formally introduced as the Director of Development to Foundation supporters during the NGH Foundation Annual Donor Appreciation event and 25th Anniversary Celebrations at the Greens at Renton. “I’m really looking forward to meeting everyone. This is perfect timing for me to come on board and a great new challenge.”

Established in 1987, the purpose of the Norfolk General Hospital Foundation, governed by a Board of Directors, is to raise money for capital improvements to the hospital. This would include renovations to the hospital and the purchase of new equipment for the hospital with a goal to continually improve patient care.          

The Foundation seeks support from the corporate sector, private individuals and service organizations. Your generous support of our Hospital will ensure a healthy future for us all.
