Simcoe, ON –An outbreak of gastrointestinal illnesses is affecting residents on the upper floor of The Norfolk Hospital Nursing Home. At this time, ten residents and two staff members have shown symptoms. These symptoms include vomiting and (or) diarrhea. Cases are confined to the upper floor of the Nursing Home.
All cases and potential cases are in isolation, group activities are cancelled on the upper floor, there is a halt to new admissions and transfers for the duration of the outbreak and visiting restrictions are in effect on the upper floor. Our caregivers and outbreak team will maintain constant communication with family members and be available for any questions or concerns they may have.
Gastro-enteric illnesses can spread very easily. It is extremely important to practice good hand hygiene at all times to help fight the spread of harmful germs and bacteria.
Thank you to family members for their understanding and cooperation as the outbreak team works to control this outbreak as soon as possible.
