The Norfolk Hospital Nursing Home is an 80 bed, publicly owned, non-profit facility opened in 1975.  A member of the Ontario Long Term Care Association, NHNH is fully accredited by the Canadian Council on Health Services Acceditation and operated under the direction of a 10 member community Board of Trustees.

Our mission is to provide the residents we serve with the best possible quality of life.

To accomplish this, we will:

    •  provide a safe and caring environment;
    •  provide ongoing support for family members;
    •  work in partnership with community based agencies and  
        other facilities to provide a continuum of Long Term Care 
        services.

Our areas of focus will be to provide care throughout the life span of the residents we serve including physical, cultural, emotional, social and spiritual needs.

Our nursing and personal care is provided by Registered Nurses, Registered Practical Nurses and Personal Support Workers.

 

The services we are pleased to provide include the following:

  • 4 Private Rooms, 10 Semi-Private Rooms, 14 ward rooms                              
  • A "least restraint" facility with key pad access
  • Medical care provided by your own physician or our Medical Director 
  • Immediate access to emergency medical care 24 hours a day, 7 days per week
  • Room and board, including laundry services (special diets are also accommodated)
  • Immediate access to extensive diagnostic services (laboratory, x-ray, CT scan, etc.)
  • Assistance with the activities of daily living
  • Registered Dietitian
  • Treatment and medication
  • Certified wound care specialist on site
  • Psychogeriatic staff on site
  • Assistance with the activities of daily living
  • Pastoral services, including weekly interdenominational church services and Chaplain on call service 
  • 24-hour supervision
  • Palliative care
  • Transition room for varying levels of care
  • Physiotherapy/ Restorative/ Occupational/ Speech Therapy services onsite
  • Social Work services
  • Well balanced meals, taking into account special diets; between meal refreshments 
  • Bright sunrooms, library and TV area
  • Wide variety of daily social and recreational programs
  • Residents' council
  • Family council
  • Hairdresser and beauty salon 
  • Library, Sunrooms, TV Areas
  • Monthly visits by pet therapy dogs 
  • Wheelchair Van
  • Available at additional cost: professional foot care services, dental services, clothing valet services, private personal telephone service and cable TV

Application for admission into a provincially regulated long-term care home can only be made through the Community Care Access Centre.  Admissions to The Norfolk Hospital Nursing Home are arranged through the Hamilton Niagara Haldimand Brant (HNHB) Community Care Access Centre (CCAC).
